Avoid a Life of Regrets With Your Yes List

How many times have you told yourself “yes!” today? Not enough I bet. Yes is the most powerful word in the English language.

Unfortunately, too many times we say yes to others when we should say no. At the same time we continue to tell ourselves no when we need to say yes.

You deserve to create the life of your dreams. Period. The first step on that road is to learn to tell yourself yes before you say yes to others.

One big reason so many people don’t like their lives is because they accidentally created a life that’s not based on what they want. How did that happen? Pretty easily and unconsciously.

If most of your life isn’t how you thought it would turn out then you haven’t figured out what you want to say yes to in your life. This doesn’t make you a bad person, it makes you a typical twenty-first century human whose life is filled with distracting details and tasks. Random decisions lead us down random paths with random endings we don’t want.

When you know what you want to say yes to then your life begins to change drastically. Why? Because anything that comes up that’s not on your “Yes list” is an automatic no. How helpful is that? Very helpful.

This allows you to cut out time that gets wasted on activities you don’t need to do. For example lets pretend Grace’s yes list includes things like reading, having a clean house, taking care of her kids, exercising, being healthy, enjoying her job, and connecting with her friends.

So today, like every day, Grace is bombarded with choices. She gets to work and someone generously brought in a huge box of donuts to share with everyone. She thinks one would taste good and she wouldn’t mind a sugar rush to get her day started. Should she eat it? Not if she’s saying yes to being healthy.

That yes cuts out the possibility of junk food and helps to prevent a future morning in the mirror asking “How did this happen to me?”

Later in the day a friend calls and invites Grace out to dinner at 9 p.m. Grace says no to dinner out because she ate out last night and doesn’t want the extra calories amoung other reasons that don’t fit her “yes list”. But then she says yes if her friend will come over to her house at 7 instead of 9 so she can have a healthier meal, be with her kids, get to bed early enough to not be tired at work and to live within her “yes list.”

Do you get it? The point is that if your yes list has “start my own business” at the top then you say no to anything that doesn’t support it like too much television viewing, playing video games every day, joing a softball league, etc.

Once you make your “yes list” and then prioritize the list you’ll be in the driver’s seat as you drive through each day making choice after choice after choice. You’ll be conscious about waht you want and you’ll be doing what you need to do to get what you want. Your future mornings with the mirror will see you smiling and thrilled with your life.

This way you won’t end up at the end of your life wondering “what if?” Even better, you won’t be complaining about what you should’ve, could’ve or would’ve done. Instead you’ll be basking in your accomplishments and living the life you love.

None of Us Arrived with an Owners Manual: A Fresh Perspective on the Drive to Lead (part 2)

Why didn’t I get an Owner’s Manual

After a little while with life happening and no sign of the Manual we began to realize we would need to make the best of it. We began to look around to see who had one and studied what they knew, surely some of it must be generic! We began to study our parents, our siblings – if they looked competent enough, and our other care givers.

They all seemed like gods to our small experience of life, so confident, so able, so talented. Surely they must have a great version of their Owner’s Manual! Many of us translated this into a presumption that they had a Manual and it was a wonderful copy, full of talents and abilities. We had our confidence high that we could do it! We could find mastery.

After a while of looking it seemed like everyone big had one. Another doubt crept in, maybe we were the only one who didn’t get one. We got secretive about it. Hiding the humiliation, coldness, rejection, betrayal and abandonment deep inside ourselves.

Many of us did such a good job we threw away the key and forgot we ever had such deep and painful doubts about our ability to make it here. Instead we got involved in studying others, working at it and seeking to create a new version of our own. Some of us got so good at this game we forgot why we were doing it; there just remained some deep unrest about who we really are.

Some of us progressed from here and made different conclusions based on our perception of those around us. Some of us looked at our siblings and thought they were a bit spare, maybe they didn’t get one either. Maybe it was just our family, all our generation, kids in our neighborhood and so on.

Some of us looked at our parents and thought they got a warped one, however our faith in them and

their ability to support us was so great that we willing joined into their pain and shame. We were so driven to work out how to operate here, it was such a primary drive we would do anything to learn.

Crisis is a blessing in disguise.

The strange thing is this was not a real representation of reality. Our hearts are wonderful places of honor, strength and courage. Anyone in an extreme crisis has not needed to doubt the courage of our true nature. Our heroic acts are legendary. The terrorist attacks of recent times bring this home to us. In Bali, ordinary injured Australians did extraordinary things and saved lives. In New York, September 11 brought out an extraordinary unity in this big, fast, hard city. The tradition is older, our heros of the wars; our pioneers of territory, mind, spirit and heart; our popular leaders’ values and so the list is infinite.

The question is never what is the value of the human heart, rather it is – is our heart open? Can we access our greatness or have we become immune, scared or so small we no longer want to go there for fear it won’t be OK anymore.

Put aside the falseness of your egoic nature, the part you alone created, apart from your heart. Take up instead your essential nature, who you truly are, and heal the rift in your drive to lead as a beacon, an example, a shining light and a wonder!

Creating Unlimited Belief for Success!

What’s holding your team back from experiencing “breakout performance”?

It may be those Old beliefs and Personal Insecurities. (aka: conceptual barriers)

Conceptual barriers are the barriers that are right behind the eyes, DEEP within the brain. “Beliefs” which were planted at a very young age and re-enforced over a long period of time – which is why they are so hard to “dislodge”.

Use the following exercise to help your team members identify their limiting beliefs and feelings. Then explain how those beliefs and feelings directly impact (positively and negatively) their bottom-line results.

Before we proceed, keep the following quote in mind – it’s a powerful reminder of why it is so important to complete sales management activities.

“Successful people DO, what unsuccessful people

are not willing to do.”
– Unknown

Here are the Four Steps to Overcome Conceptual Barriers:

Step One – Uncover Negative Self-Talk

Ask the employee to tell you what he or she “least” enjoys about each step of the sales management process. Follow up by asking how that particular aspect of the process makes the employee feel.

For example:

- Prospecting/Cold Calling – (feels like I am intruding)

- Asking for the Business – (feels like I am being pushy)

- Cross-Selling/Up-Selling – (feels like I am taking advantage)

- Assumptive Closing – (feels like I am being presumptuous)

Step Two – Identify Beliefs that are the root source of negative feelings toward sales management practices.

Go back to our prior examples of Old Beliefs that get in the way of our progress in the sales management process:

- Don’t talk to strangers

- It is impolite to talk about money

- Never interrupt important people

- Wait to be asked

Help the employee understand and be aware of why it is that they may feel the way they do.

Employees should understand that they feel the way they do for a reason. Once they understand this it can be much easier for them to make a decision to overcome their old belief(s).

Step Three – Turn Limiting Beliefs into Unlimited Possibility!

Illustrate the following to your employee so they can clearly see how their beliefs and feelings ultimately “pre-determine”

their outcome.

On one hand:

Positive Beliefs » Positive Feelings » Actions » Positive Results

And on the other hand:

Limiting Beliefs » Negative Feelings » Inaction » Negative Results

So based on the preceding, it’s obvious which hand offers the most value – correct?

Step Four – CHOOSE a path together!

Obviously, if an employee is unwilling to work to overcome conceptual barriers, then you should agree that a sales position is not the right fit.

You should either find a more suitable role for the person, or part ways so he/she may pursue a more rewarding opportunity somewhere else.

Let’s assume however that the employee seeks to overcome their conceptual barriers and is willing to take ownership of their plan for improvement.

As the leader, you have an important role to play in your employee overcoming their limiting beliefs. You are responsible for supporting the employee in three key areas. Once again, they are:

- TEACH – lead by example, reinforce positive actions and behaviors

- COACH – help to improve technique, debrief progress, track results, ensure employee stays on task

- EXPECT – inspect what you expect, hold yourself and your employee accountable for continued improvement and increased results.

In conclusion, ask yourself the following question.

Can you name one person who is a top performer that:

- believed he wouldn’t be successful?

- feels she shouldn’t be successful?

- does not take the actions necessary for her to become successful?

The answer to each question? “Of course not!” Right?

So by default we must agree that in order for anyone to be successful, he/she must understand what is holding him or her back.

Then, she must be willing to work to overcome obstacles, and choose to proactively follow a corrective action plan.

Finally, he must “execute” the plan.

Through this process he will build new beliefs that will enable him to discard that old and tired, limiting belief.

7 Ways To Make You Feel Good Instantly!

How are you feeling now?

The answer to this question determines how much moneyyou will make, how big your house will be, how beautifulyour car will be, how well you will manage your relations,it determines every aspect of your life.

WHY?

I am glad you are asking why, because knowing why is goingto be your first step to higher level of awareness.Once you know why, you will begin your journey ofconscious manifestation, or deliberate creation.

Let me tell you the best kept secret of all ages.

LISTEN CAREFULLY…

How you are feeling determines how you are vibrating, determines how you are attracting, and determines howyou are creating.

What you feel, you create.

This may not be good news for you if you are not creatingwhat you want.

We are vibrating human being, living in avibrating universe. Everything is vibrating. If you are not attracting what you want, that’s becauseyou are not vibrating at the same level of vibrationas your desires are.

How do you know whether you are vibrating at the rightlevel of vibration?

God has created an accurate monitoring system withinus that will tell us exactly how we are vibrating. That is our emotional mechanism. When you arefeeling good, you are crating what you want, when youare feeling bad, you are creating what you don’t want.It is as simple as that.

So we have only one thing to do, that is to keepourselves feeling good.

Remember this if you forget everything I say – “Nothing is more important than feeling good.”

I am now giving you 7 ways to make you feel good instantly.

1). Use your facial muscle.

Face is the most undeveloped areas on our body.We only use less than ten percent of the expressionsthat our face can make. Use your face muscle; you canimmediately change your feeling. Put a smile on yourface for 60 seconds; see how much better you will feel.Do this three times a day until it becomes a habit.

2). Cut down the negative influence.

How much time do you spend on TV and newspaper? What are they talking about most of the time? 80%of the news is negative. We have focused too muchon the problem instead of solution. You don’t helpthe world much by watching and reading the news, you only add more negative vibration to the problemand make it even worse. If you really want to help, raise your vibration by making yourself feel better. You can only help when you are vibrating at ahigher level. Remember this metaphor, “Darkness willdisappear immediately when you turn on the light.”Light is a higher level of vibration.

So stop watching TV and stop reading the newspaper.Experiment with this for a week, see how you’ve instantlyraised you vibration.

3). Feed your mind with positive f mental food.

Read inspirational books, study life of spiritual people. The higher form of vibration is embedded in the words,it will resonate your mind once you are ready.Make it a habit to read at least 15 minutes before youretire at night.

4). Listen to inspirational music.

Music itself is a form of vibration. People havediscovered ways to use music as a method of therapy, this is because music can restore peace and bringback order through vibration. Music will work likea charm if it is embedded with subliminal messages.Think

about it, what a wonderful idea when you enjoylistening to a beautiful music, and someone is whisperingto your subconscious mind with all the positive messages. The best program of this kind I have found is a programcalled “Make every day a great day”. Listen to it 30minutes a day, you will immediately raise your levelof vibration. You can check out this program at

http://www.theultimatesecrets.com/MEDAGD.html

5). 17 seconds of flip switch.

I have talked about flip switch several times in myprevious articles. I really want you to get this.Because this is the most important skill you can learn.Unlike any other techniques that make you feelmotivated for a moment, and then you quickly go backto your comfort zone. Flip switch is to make you feela little bit better at the moment. This is critical. It makes you feel a little bit better, but it stopsthe process of accumulating negative emotions. You do this by holding a positive feeling for 17 seconds.Yes, 17 seconds of feeling good will immediately cancelout all the negative emotions your previously accumulated. This is powerful stuff. I want you really put itinto practice. Flip switch any time you feel worry, fear, and anger. I learn this wonderful technique fromthe legendary peak performance expert Dr Robert Anthony.Check out his program here

http://www.theultimatesecrets.com/rd/robert.html

6). Reach to the thought that feels the best.

This is also a technique that Dr Robert Anthony revealsin his program. I find it works extremely well.Any time you feel down, say this to your self “Reachfor the thought that feels the best.” This is alwaysthe best thing you ca do under any circumstances. If youcan constantly reach to the thought that feels the best. You will quickly increase your level of awareness, and reach to the ultimate enlightenment.

Here is an important point that I have discovered, and you must be aware of it. Don’t expect to feelimmediately excited when you first use this technique. That will rarely happen. Let me take an exampleof jumping, if you currently can jump a height of 1 meter, you can’t expect to immediately reach to 2 meters. You can only increase your height a little bit higher, and you do this little by little, in the end you willreach to the highest level. So “reach to the thoughtthat feels the best” doest not mean you must feelimmediately excited. It just means the highest vibrationwhat you can feel now.

7). Send out your love.

There is no force stronger than love. In my opinion, love is the highest vibration. The more love you send out,and the more love will come back to you. Love everything,Love your friends, love your enemies. Love the world.Look at the sky, and say I love you “God”. Acknowledgethe divine spirit within yourself, and say I love myself. You shall immediately raise your vibration.

I send you love.

Is Your Team Suffering from FWTS?

Who do you know who is feeling stuck, under-performing, or dealing with frustration and upset?

These folks might be suffering from FLAT WORLD THINKING SYNDROME! (FWTS)

“Flat World Thinking Syndrome” is the number one issue standing between predictable performance and breakthrough performance. Allow me to illustrate…

For hundreds of years (and perhaps thousands for that matter) mankind believed the earth was flat. Their perspective on the universe held the planets and the sun revolving around the earth. Sailors were afraid to lose sight of land on sea going journeys because they knew if they went too far, they’d fall off the edge.

The fear of falling off the edge of the earth really put the dampers on exploration. The fear was the result of “FWTS.” Then comes along Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), who in 1612 confirms the Copernican theory using his newly designed telescope, that the earth is indeed round and the sun is actually the center of the universe.

Was Galileo’s discovery readily accepted by the thinkers of his day? NOT AT ALL! In fact, he was given the choice at the Inquisition of 1632 to recant his theoryor die. He decided dying sounded like a tough option so lived until his death as an old man under house arrest.

Moral of the story: Flat World thinkers are not necessarily interested in new perspectives. They’re interested in the comfort zone and being RIGHT! As a result, they stay stuck.

“Flat World Thinking Syndrome” shows up in our business lives.

The Business Flat World Perspective:There are hundreds of illustrations we can pull from the business world. Perspectives and strategies that worked in 1982 are outdated today. For example:

1. The Customer Is Always Right! (FWTS Model): Let’s face it; the customer is NOT always right. Yet for years, we tell our people the customer is always right! What’s the danger in this message? Your credibility! If I’m the new hire on your team, it doesn’t take long for me to figure out what you’re saying and what I’m experiencing are two different things. My B.S. meter goes up and your credibility goes down. Credibility goes down and then trust begins to erode. And then…well, you get the picture.

I recently reviewed a company’s new employee orientation process. One of the first items out of the trainer’s mouth was: “The customer is always right!” You could feel the eyeballs roll and resistance increase by the audience members. That’s the FWTS method.

New approach: I believe the solution is to talk straight with the new hire and all employees. Tell them

the customer isn’t always right. Tell them the truth. Then coach the team on the “game” we play: to have every customer hang up the phone or walk out the door saying, “I Got WOWed!”.

With the “I Got WOWed!” goal in mind, you’d coach me on the skills I need to win. You’ll help me see what a “good business decision” is built upon; you’ll help me gain confidence in dealing with the three to five most common customer upsets. Then you’ll support me in figuring out how to help customers leave the experience saying: “WOW!”.

Which leads me to…

2. Training Employees: I’ve heard it said, “Why spend money on training employees? They’ll just leave.” That’s a Flat world, narrow perspective on the topic.

My thought is: You might train them and they might leave; but what if you don’t train them and they STAY? Which is worse?

In fact, you can build a solid “Return on Investment” case for effectively training new hires. Here are but a few examples:

- With effective training, you set people up to win sooner in their job-and people like to win!

- Give employees life skills and they’ll hang around longer if they believe they’re gaining skills they can use down the road.

- You send a message that you’re willing to invest in your human capital!

- Customers have a better and more consistent experience with educated, informed, trained employees!

- The rest of your team will experience fewer headaches and hassles because folks know how to succeed on their job!

How’s that for a quick list!

Let’s bottom-line this topic: You cut turnover as a result of the above benefits. People will stay longer where they feel valued and are set-up to win! You improve performance and productivity-and who can argue with those results?

Moral of the story: Be on the lookout for Flat World Thinking Syndrome! Challenge the sacred cows in your organization! Be willing to examine old methods in order to produce new results! Be open to new possibilities. After all, who knows enough about life to be sceptical?

And one more thing…have some fun in the process!

Leadership and Followership in a Team Setting

Many solopreneurs work in a team environment either with their client’s staff, or with subcontractors. Having spent over 20 years in a teaming environment before becoming a solopreneur 13 years ago, I know that during the course of any highly functioning team effort, the leadership and followership roles flow back and forth between the members.

An observer of such a team would see that at any moment, the person on the team who has either information, wisdom, or creativity to offer steps quietly forward to assume the leadership position. After she has delivered her knowledge to the group, she then steps quietly back into the role of a follower, as the next person slips into the leadership position. This ebb and flow of leadership and followership is one of the hallmarks of a highly-functioning and productive team.

“So you did this just because all your friends did it? If all your friends laid down on the tracks in front of a train, I suppose you would too? Do you want to be a follower all your life?” – Your Mother

You Mother was right. To be effective in today’s teams, you can’t be a follower all your life. You need to step out into the glare of the lights and assume the leadership mantle, contributing your unique specialness, knowledge, and creativity to the group. In this way, the work product of the team is strengthened.

This leadership role is not granted you by title or position. Instead, you take on the role voluntarily. And your team members grant you the role because of your expertise, credibility, reputation, or influence. In other words, it is a temporary role on the team that you earn over time.

To be effective in this type of leadership role, you must first secure the respect of your team members in at least one of the following three areas:

1. Knowledge. You must have respected expertise and proven judgement in areas relevant to

the team’s goals.

2. People Skills. You must care about your team members and value the team’s goals.

3. Performance. You must show that you are willing to take on tasks and activities that actually help the team meet their goals.

To build respect and credibility in either of these three areas, you must first be a terrific follower. Not the type of follower your Mother railed against. But the type of follower who is committed to helping the team reach their goals. A follower who contributes focus and influence to getting the work product delivered to the required standards of quality and timing. A follower with a courageous conscience and controlled ego. A follower with the ability to think creatively and critically, who is self-motivated, proactive and self-disciplined.

This week, monitor your role on the team’s of which you are a member. Are you shifting smoothly in and out of the roles of leadership and follwership as appropriate to you and the team? Or are you failing to step into the leadership role when appropriate? Or failing to step back and contribute in the role of a follower? What could you change about how you shift between these roles to better contribute to the team?

The Happiness Recipe – Attitude, Memories, and Authentic Communication

I’ve done an enormous amount of research on happiness over the years and it is a subject I am continually fascinated by. Human beings are already such incredibly complex creatures. Add on the ever-evolving technological and materialistic age we live in, and happiness seems to become more and more elusive. So what can we do to create more bliss in our busy lives? Here are three happiness nuggets I’ve discovered over the years.

Build happy memories

On vacation a few years ago, we packed the kids into the car and drove down to Cape Cod. It was cold, wet and miserable. After a few days the sun broke through the rain clouds, and we headed off to the beach in Chatham. Far off in the distance, we saw a strange black mass. Rocks? What was it? We kept on walking. As we neared that big black mass, we discovered, much to our surprise, a huge group of over two hundred seals playfully lollygagging on a sandbar, one hundred feet in front of us! The kids fell madly in love with the cute, plump baby seals gazing at us with huge, moist brown eyes. We parked ourselves on the beach, sitting in awe of the wonderful scene, enjoying it for hours on end.

Do you think that the kids are happy when I bring up that memory? Absolutely! It lights up their faces (and mine) every time. Do they think about their discarded video games the same way? Heck, no! Memories like that last a lifetime. And it doesn’t have to be cute baby seals. How about a hike in the mountains? Or a trip to the zoo? Happy memories last a lifetime, “stuff “doesn’t.

A great attitude is only one thought away.

How many times have you asked someone at work, at the grocery store, or even friends, “How’s it going,” only to be met with a mumbled, “Not too bad”? I’ve come across plenty of unhappy people, especially in the service industry, to the point where I try to avoid any scowling, grumbling or just plain mean people who seem to be living their lives in a perpetual funk. But there’s a particular lady at my grocery store who always has a bright smile on her face, a cheery hello and will go the extra mile to happily clip out coupons for me! I always

try to pass through her cash because she makes my day that much happier. She expresses herself in such an unabashedly joyful manner that I highly doubt she comes into work with that “It’s not going too bad” that we all hear time and time again.

Not going too bad?? That just saddens me. So, choose your mannerisms, body language and words carefully. How about “It’s going great”? Along with a great big smile, of course! You’ll have people doing a quick double take and maybe you’ll even pass your mood along to others. The power of attitude is simply amazing.

Old ladies in Italy probably don’t worship the Internet and have Ipods.

During a trip to Florence, Italy, I peered out my window one morning and was struck by a scene of older Italian ladies amicably chatting together. Adding to the charm was all the washed, white bed sheets flapping on clotheslines over the street – the sort of scene out of an old movie. These ladies certainly don’t sit in front of a computer and chat over the Internet! And that’s what’s scary about our supposedly technologically superior culture. It was supposed to bring us closer together. Remember global community and all that jazz? But has it brought us closer together?

We seem to spend more time hunkered down in front of computers or video games, oblivious to our neighbours in our cocoon of electronics and suburbia. Connecting with friends, neighbours and your kids can be deeply satisfying when all the technological clutter is pushed aside. And those connections are the most genuine and will probably be the happiest you have. Those Italian ladies were really enjoying their face-to-face time. Maybe it’s time for a little less e-mail and chat sites and a little more authentic communication in order to reconnect with our humanness. We’ll be that much happier for it.

Let’s make a little happiness recipe.

One brimming cup of ever lasting wonderful memories,

One packed cup of positive attitude,

One overflowing cup of authentic communication.

Mix well.

Makes many delightful servings.

How A Creation Box Can Work For You

Bring to mind a time when you decided that you wanted something in your life; a vacation, a special book, or a household item. Did you notice that things relating to what you were wanting appeared out of nowhere–either you overheard someone talking about it, noticed an advertisement, a billboard or even junk mail? This, my friends, is the power of the Law of Attraction at work. The Law of Attraction states that all forms of matter and energy are attracted to that which is of a like vibration. “Like attracts like.” The thoughts we hold attract similar thoughts and become large masses of thoughts. These thoughts are also called vibrations.

I have been following the teaching of Abraham-Hicks, (one of the teachers of The Law of Attraction) for many years, and have adopted many of the suggestions offered from their work. Here is Abraham’s explanation of vibration.

If you’re wondering what you are vibrating, observe your life. It’s a perfect match. What you are living is what you are vibrating, without exception. So, if you’ve got something that you don’t want, identify what it is within your vibration that is giving it to you. The Law of Attraction is powerful, and whatever you are vibrating, the Universe will match.

One of the powerful tools I use from the Abraham teachings is the Creation Box. A Creation Box is simply a box or container where you store symbols, pictures, or descriptions, of your desires. Your Creation Box can be any size, shape, or colour–it is for you to enjoy and have fun with. A Creation Box helps you purify your vibration; in other words, you become more focused on the desire you put in it. Fill your Creation Box with pictures you tear out of magazines, sketches, doodles, or special notes that describe what you want. As you begin to play with your Creation Box, you will be knocked over by the speed and efficiency with which the Law of Attraction responds to the desires you have placed in

your box.

Whatever you are focusing on, be it real or imagined, causes you to vibrate–and that vibration is what the Law of Attraction accepts as your point of attraction. The Law of Attraction does not know or care why you are vibrating–it only responds to your vibration. You get more of what you want and you get more of what you don’t want. The Creation Box process helps you to think, feel, and vibrate MORE of what you desire. I’ve been using a Creation Box since 1995, placing into it things that I want while remembering that the key here is not to become attached to how it will come to me.

Recently, a friend of mine noticed my Creation Box in my home and was curious about its purpose and contents. After explaining its purpose, I opened it up to share some of the special things I wanted to manifest. To my delight, I realized that a number of magazine clippings and notes of things I had desired had already come to me!

Signs That Match Online Daters Forever

One of the major reasons people check their horoscopes is matchmaking. After all, if personality is clearly laid out by a person’s sign, then it should be pretty easy to tell whether or not that person is going to be compatible.

It’s not as simple as that, of course. Other factors in a person’s horoscope can influence those basic rules, or even counter them entirely. Just because a person falls within a sign does not mean they’re going to be a perfect match for the general depiction of that sign. Still, it’s fun and interesting to check for compatibility through a horoscope.

As a general rule, your “perfect match” is likely to be at the opposite side of the Zodiac from you. That is, Aries with Libra, Taurus with Scorpio, Cancer with Capricorn, Leo with Aquarius, Virgo with Pisces, Sagittarius with Gemini. Those signs opposing each other across the Zodiac tend to balance out, supporting each other’s strengths and countering each other’s weaknesses—provided, of course, that

the personality differences can be smoothed over.

As an example, Cancer has a very strong “family instinct.” Cancers want to have a strong and secure home life. This mindset is likely to drive away several other signs, like dominant Aries or travel-oriented Sagittarius. Capricorn, however, has a similar attitude towards home and in general, the two would get along just fine…provided, of course, the Cancer could learn to cope with the Capricorn’s penchant for gloom and depression.

The signs that definitely do not get along are the ones that have a core difference. Sagittarius is known for traveling, and would drive the home-focused Cancer to distraction. Detail-oriented and critical Virgo would grate on the nerves of self-centered and bossy Aries. And bright and cheerful Libra would never be able to handle a life darkened by shady, mysterious Scorpio.

Creativity Management and Team Size

Effective team structure is critical when managing creativity and creative output.

It appears that many individuals are effective alone – Einstein, Marco Polo etc – however, what is usually overlooked is that these people often collaborated regularly. Also, it is very difficult to separate the idea from its influences. In any case, individuals are prone to path dependency, parochialism and reduced insight through reduced intellectual cross-pollination.

The negatives of the individual are reduced somewhat by the addition of another individual. Pairs keep each other grounded and there are no core and peripheral information flows – there are only two people. However, parochialism and path dependency are still factors. The core aim of a pair should be to encourage diversity and novelty in each individual.

As groups get larger, the quality of results increases with intellectual cross-pollination. But group negatives prevent breakout:

a) Symptoms of group think increase

b) The percentage of individual performance declines

c) Groups of three to five elicit much

more conformity than just one or two

d) Evaluation apprehension increases

e) Core and peripheral information flows exclude some people

f) Political strategies increase

In conclusion, a tactical combination of team structures increases creative output.
