Beat Stress With Exercise

What is stress?

Our body is subjected to constant changes in the environment that affect us both physically and emotionally influencing the way we feel, behave and react in various situations. This weathering that the body undergoes under varied pressures of life is stress. Although stress is the root cause of many common health disorders, it isn’t always harmful. Increase in stress upto a certain level boosts productivity. Stress can motivate an individual to win a race or perform well academically. This is positive stress which encourages the individual to improvise and achieve goals which he would not have accomplished otherwise. But when the level of stress overwhelms us and exceeds a certain limit, different biological responses are triggered resulting in increased heart rate, headache, elevated blood pressure, insomnia, muscle tension, rashes, ulcers and accelerated breathing which might lead to life threatening health disorders. Major trauma like death of a loved one, events like losing friendship, having a baby, credit card debts, high electric bill, relocation to a new town, academic failure, loss of a job, marriage, falling hair, rush-hour traffic, annoying boss or neighbor, parenting teens, chronic illness, heavy responsibilities, performing before a huge audience or a new relationship- all can produce stress which bring about negative effects on the body. So, no stress as well as too much stress, both are harmful. One must find the balance and utilize stress for his benefit and improvement.

Stress and the Exercise Connection

Researchers are working around the clock to gain command over stress or fight it more efficiently. Since it is detrimental to health, relationships and life as a whole, it is essential for every individual to take charge and manage stress. To beat stress and make life more relaxed and peaceful, there is no alternative to exercise.

Exercise is fun.

Identify what activities you enjoy the most and try to include them within your daily routine. Exercising builds up your physical reserves and helps you fight stress more efficiently. You should exercise at least four times each week for thirty minutes each session. Any time best suitable for you can be the time for exercise. Simple repetitive exercises like cycling, swimming, jogging, walking, hiking, racquet sports, dancing, skiing and aerobics are some of the best known stress busters. Doctors of patients of depression often recommend these exercises to free the mind of tension. You should rejoice in any kind of exercise activity otherwise it will feel like a chore and gradually you’ll abstain from it. Remember to warm up and cool down before and after you start your exercise program to avoid injury. Gentle stretching exercises are considered best for the warm ups and cool downs. Exercises help you sleep better and start a whole new day with new vigor and an enhanced feeling of self-esteem.

Shape up and build confidence.

Shed those excess fat, control weight, tone your muscles, increase flexibility, rejuvenate skin and radiate confidence through exercises. Ward off stress while exercising moderately at a comfortable pace and slowly speed up to improve stamina and efficiency. Burning calories fuel you up with new vigor to energize the body throughout the day. When you are full of confidence you trust yourself and accomplish those goals you thought were impossible to achieve.

Stay healthy.

Poor health is one of the leading causes of stress. Regular exercise improves blood circulation and promotes oxygen supply to the vital organs of the body thus strengthening the immune system, lungs and heart which in turn fight diseases more efficiently and the body becomes less vulnerable to various health conditions. Exercise boosts liver functions, digestive activities, metabolism, intestinal movements and kidney functions thus keeping constipation, diabetes and arthritis at bay. Exercise makes you feel better and live happier.

Change your focus.

A daily exercise regime keeps your mind off of the mundane routine and stressful thoughts and channels your energy for productive purposes. You mind stays alert and occupied with the potentials of the brighter side of life. Combat stress and enjoy the beauties of life.

Indulge in restful exercises.

Do whatever is good for you. Take positive steps to reduce stress. Laugh aloud with friends and family, go for an outing or just soak in the tub with some aromatic oils or rose petals. Determine the stress

causing elements and be creative in finding solutions befitting your hectic schedule to not let them hamper your life. Sit by the fireplace and quietly watch the dancing flames, stroll on the beach and soak in the sun while enjoying the beauty of the sea, gently pet your favorite animal, lie in the backyard in a hammock, sit by the lake, watch the sun go down behind the pine trees, look at the star-studded night sky or simply play with your kids. Keep your mind engaged with matters other than business or family if they bring about stress in your life.

Try the deep relaxation/meditation techniques of Yoga.

The rewards of yoga are endless, both physically and mentally. Practiced for centuries, yoga, whose other word is meditation, massages the internal organs as well as energizes the soul. Essentially, regular exercise of yoga can magically treat stress and various health disorders. It stimulates the muscles in the various body parts in a non-strenuous manner and brings about flexibility in those areas which were never so much worked upon before thus lubricating the joints, ligaments and tendons comprehensively. Muscles are admirably toned by gentle stretching and massage which facilitates blood circulation in the entire body. This, on the other hand, detoxifies the body by quick elimination of wastes from even the farthest corners of the body thus keeping a myriad of infections and health disorders at bay. Active blood circulation also means efficient transport of nutrients which attributes to prompt healing of wounds, delayed ageing, a boost in stamina, improved digestion, dodging disability, enhanced breathing, rejuvenation of skin and radiation of confidence. You will discover a new vigor in life. Most importantly, the goal of yoga is to attune body with mind and soul.

Many yoga exercises are easy and have a magical effect on the students performing yoga. Regular practice of yoga will relieve you of physical pain and stress giving you a positive outlook towards life and enlightenment of soul. It is the exercise of the body as well as the mind. Thousands have been aroused by yoga’s magical touch and have benefited from it. In essence, the centuries old healing process of yoga will transform your life at the spiritual level.

Practice these moderate exercises.

Workplace is the main culprit source of stress in most cases. So, here are some workplace stress busting exercises that are very easy to follow routinely-

1. Deep breathing:

Inhale deeply. Fill in your lungs with as much air as possible, then exhale. A fresh dose of oxygen will recharge your batteries.

2. Neck roll:

Roll your neck clockwise and then anti-clockwise 10-15 times each way. This relieves tension around the neck and shoulder regions. The same can be achieved by looking left, as far back as possible and then looking right the same way. Repeat 10 times.

3. Rub:

Gently give yourself a neck and shoulder rub. Find yourself revived.

4. Bends:

Stand up with feet 1 foot apart. Lift your arms. Gently bend backwards and forwards, left and right, 5 times. This stretching exercise is great for the back muscles which get easily strained because of sitting at the same spot for hours.

5. Chest stretch:

Stand tall with feet 1 foot apart. Lift and stretch your arms straight and forward. Slowly inhale to the fullest while moving your arms to the sides. Keep arms at the same level. Hold for 5 seconds. Exhale and bring the arms back together to the front. Feel the relief.

6. Hand stretch:

Interlock fingers. Extent arms forward at shoulder height and palms facing out. Hold for 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times. This stretches shoulders, hands, wrists and upper back and relieves tension around them.

7. Back stretch:

Stand tall with feet 1 foot apart and hands on the waist. Twist your upper body and turn back as much as possible. Hold for 5 seconds and come back to the starting position. Repeat with the other side. This is particularly good for stretching the middle back.

Any exercise is stress relieving. Actually when we exercise, the brain releases endorphins, that are natural painkillers which give a sense of being healthful thus enhancing the overall mood and of course, that will make you sleep better. So, start exercising and get rid of stress sooner than later.

Leadership Is Action…Not Position!

People respond to good leadership! Period! It is in all aspects of our lives, not just business. A mother is a leader in her home; a son may be leader of a team sport or a daughter the leader of the debate team. A group relies on the person in charge to actually lead them to success. A true leader is highly ethical, honest and respected.

In our society we have leaders and followers. Are we born to one or the other? No! Can you hone your leadership skills? Absolutely!

The leaders that I admire seem to have all of these in place:

a) They think BIG! They don’t put a ceiling in place. Instead, no limit is set as to how big or how much better something can be.

b) The goals are firmly set in place and the eye does not come off of it.

c) They make known to all involved the final product that they are all going for, example,

if you sell widgets, it takes x number of widgets to be affluent, or you want to win that football game and ultimately the title. Know what you’re going for.

d) They can get compliance to orders.

e) When goals are met they set new goals or raise the bar.

People will follow your lead willingly if you are honest, ethical, if you are consistent and treat them with respect. Rewarding someone when a job is well done is always appreciated. A good leader will also off load someone who consistently hinders the group who is just not a team player.

You can improve your own self- respect and become an inspiration to others. How great is that!

Earth Changes and Fearful Prophecy: Changing the Channel

With the recent hurricanes, massive tsunami, earthquakes, volcanic activity, flooding, mudslides, etc., I’d be surprised if you haven’t indulged in at least a moment or two of considering the various apocalyptic Earth-changes prophecies. I must confess I have. And some of the dire prognostications about what is to occur are enough to scare the bejeebers out of you and drag you down in frequency in the process! So I’ve been asking my Self to share some wisdom to help me maintain perspective here, withdraw energy from my fearful self, and keep me focused on our movement upward in frequency. So here’s some of what I was given:

If you don’t like what you’re seeing, change channels! We don’t have to create according to fearful possibilities! If we want something different, it’s time to empower something different. After all—it’s all energy and WE are the Creators. Those that want to create according to an apocalyptic prophecy are free to do so, and are free to experience their creation, but those that don’t want to, don’t have to participate! Global destruction, and all that entails, is not a scenario we are required to empower. We can choose to focus our attention on a different plane of reality, a different dimension, a different possibility. The possibility in which Earth and her children are birthed into Light in great joy.

Every possibility is available to us, and we are continually choosing which plane of reality to attune our consciousness with, and empower, based on our attention and our emotions. While we may have forgotten that we have the power to do so, we can change the locus of our consciousness like we change the channel on a television set. If you tune into the “TV station” that is set to a doomsday “program,” and allow yourself to invest your passion into what you see there, or even just make an ego investment in “knowing what’s going to happen,” you will become a part of the program; you will empower it with your emotional energy, and experience it in all its Technicolor trauma and gore. But if you decide that program is not for you, simply change channels and opt out of that reality! Stop watching the scary stuff, stop creating based on external evidence drawn from the world created by generation after generation of minds out of alignment, and instead, choose to focus on and feel Joy. This does not mean struggling to divorce yourself from your feelings of helplessness or fear—remember, what you resist persists. It means surrendering them to your Spirit whose pure Love will transform them.

Why do so many of us stay at least partially tuned to the trauma-drama channel even though it horrifies us? If you’ve read Recreating Eden, you won’t be surprised to find that it is the doing of the fear-hungry, reptilian brain-driven aspect of ourselves—the mythological “serpent”—seeking more reverse-polarity energy from which to feed. In the ego-dominated world, there is a lot of reverse polarity juice to be partaken of in “drama mode,” and if we’re not conscious of what we’re doing (and we’re usually not when we’re at lower frequency), we will simply follow energy without regard to what it is aligned with, and feed more energy into it, thus lowering our frequency further. Oh, how we love to feel energy moving—even energy in reverse polarity—and with the serpent clamoring to be fed, there can be quite a tug toward focusing on fear-based information, even in those of us who are more awake and, at some level, know better than to do so! But by focusing devotedly on your Spirit instead, you will naturally be subject to that tug less and less. And you will find that you will attract and be attracted to more and more Love-based information instead.

While we may be operating at a frequency where we have at least partially forgotten our power to choose and create, and while in that state, have added to the fear-infused duality-driven consensus

reality by default, we actually have limitless choices on what realities we empower. We have free will to choose and create differently. Free will isn’t something that was designed to get human beings in trouble—it was designed so that we can create any scenario we choose to in order that God’s creation be unlimited. Any prophecy is simply one possibility out of an infinite number of possibilities—just one description of one occurrence on one plane of reality. That’s because God is still creating—creating through us by the choices we make. And as the master teacher, Jesus, taught: “my father’s house has many mansions” (Creation has many dimensions). Therefore, if we don’t like the one we’re in, we simply need to choose a different one.

And how do you do that? Change frequency! Transcend fear by tuning into the broadcast of your Spirit, thus withdrawing from duality. Refuse to entertain a lower-frequency broadcast and rise up to a new level of consciousness. Spend your time in the Unified Field of Oneness and Harmony. Focus on your Spirit’s messages of Love and Life and Light and Joy and Peace and Harmony. Act from that place of divine knowing, and in so doing, tune out the frightening stuff that is being generated by the part of you whose entire existence depends on keeping you at lower frequency. Believe me—if you are attuned to your Spirit, and there’s anything you need to do to keep your body and soul out of harm’s way, you will be inspired to do so—not out of fear, but out of the natural response to the impulses of your Spirit.

I know that many of you reading this have a deep knowing that you are to be of service in this time of major planetary transition, and you may see that service as assisting humanity in surviving cataclysm. I’d like to suggest that another possibility for service is in withdrawing energy from “the worst case scenario” and blazing a pathway to a higher frequency where global devastation is not required. Perhaps you’re willing to consider that your greatest path of service is to switch over to the channel of joyful ascension so that, by the power of unified radiance, it is easier for our sisters and brothers to rise in frequency and leave the “all hell is breaking loose” channel behind as well. When we focus our energy on peace and Love, that is what we experience and empower for all of us.

So, friends—it would seem we have a choice to make. I personally don’t wish to participate in manifesting the global chaos and destruction possibility, however likely it may look from here. (Obviously, we’re currently tuned into a station where Earth is going through some fairly drastic physical changes or we wouldn’t even be having this conversation!) I prefer the scenario where we surrender to God In Us, and rise up to a new frequency where the story will read, “While there was a possibility of Mother Earth cleansing through a great cataclysm, we chose, instead, to lift up all Creation through our Love and alignment with Spirit, and thus Earth and her children peacefully became shining and new again in the process.” So I will be setting my consciousness to that channel. Check in and see if your Spirit agrees with this “let’s create it higher” view. If so, please join me in choosing an easy, joyful transition. It’s far easier to create and sustain a reality when we do it together!

Creativity: 4 Steps to Get Yours Going

Here’s a four step process to get your creativity going:

1) Precisely define your goal.

The more precisely you define a goal the more likely you are to get it and recognize it when it arrives. You cannot reach a goal that you do not have.

2) Identify efforts that have not worked in the past and drop them.

Don’t stay stuck. Remember that you are stuck when you keep doing the same things that don’t work over and over again and expect different results.

If it’s not working, it’s not working. Don’t try to come up with new and better ways to ride a dead horse.

3) Come up with crazy, silly, bizarre, outlandish ways to achieve your goal, that you would never do, but are fun to think about.

One of the best paths to creativity is

humor. Take it.

4) Come up with creative ideas that will get you where you want to go.

Sometimes the seeds for these creative ideas are in the crazy ideas. Other times, simply laughing at the crazy ideas will boost your creative juices for other solutions.

Remember how creative you were as a kid? The things you could build, the games you could create, the stories you told. Why not use the same creativity as an adult?

Ideals Developed By Psychic – Concentration

Through our paltry stir and strife, Glows the wished Ideal, Andlonging molds in clay, what life Carves in the marblereal. –Lowell

We often hear people spoken of as idealists. The fact is we areall idealists to a certain extent, and upon the ideals we picturedepends our ultimate success. You must have the mental image ifyou are to produce the material thing. Everything is firstcreated in the mind. When you control your thoughts you become acreator. You receive divine ideas and shape them to yourindividual needs. All things of this world are to you just whatyou think they are. Your happiness and success depend upon yourideals.

You are responsible for every condition you go through, eitherconsciously or unconsciously. The next step you take determinesthe succeeding step. Remember this; it is a valuable lesson. Byconcentrating on each step as you go along, you can save a lot ofwaste steps and will be able to choose a straight path instead ofa roundabout road.

Concentrate Upon Your Ideals and They Will Become MaterialActualities. Through Psychic – Concentration we work out our ideals inphysical life. Your future depends upon the ideals you areforming now. Your past ideals are determining your present. Therefore, if you want a bright future, you must begin to preparefor it today.

If persons could only realize that they can only injurethemselves, that when they are apparently injuring others theyare really injuring themselves, what a different world this wouldbe!

We say a man is as changeable as the weather. What is meant ishis ideals change. Every time you change your ideal you thinkdifferently. You become like a rudderless boat on an ocean. Therefore realize the importance of holding to your ideal untilit becomes a reality.

You get up in the morning determined that nothing will make youlose your temper. This is your ideal of a person of real strengthand poise. Something takes place that upsets you completely andyou lose your temper. For the time being you forget your ideal. If you had just thought a second of what a well-poised personimplies you would not have become angry. You lose your poise whenyou forget your ideal. Each time we allow our ideals to beshattered we also weaken our will-power.

Holding to your idealsdevelops will-power. Don’t forget this.

Why do so many men fail? Because they don’t hold to their idealuntil it becomes a mental habit. When they concentrate on it tothe exclusion of all other things it becomes a reality.

“I am that which I think myself to be.”

Ideals are reflected to us from the unseen spirit. The laws ofmatter and spirit are not the same. One can be broken, but notthe other. To the extent that ideals are kept is your futureassured.

It was never intended that man should suffer. He has brought itupon himself by disobeying the laws of nature. He knows them socannot plead ignorance. Why does he break them? Because he doesnot pay attention to those ideals flashed to him from theInfinite Spirit.

Life is but one continuous unfoldment, and you can be happy everystep of the way or miserable, as you please; it all depends uponhow we entertain those silent whisperings that come from we knownot where. We cannot hear them with mortal ear, but from thesilence they come as if they were dreams, not to you or me alone, but to everyone. In this way the grandest thoughts come to us, touse or abuse. So search not in treasured volumes for noblethoughts, but within, and bright and glowing vision will come tobe realized now and hereafter.

You must give some hours to concentrated, consistent, persistentthought. You must study yourself and your weaknesses.

No man gets over a fence by wishing himself on the other side. Hemust climb.

No man gets out of the rut of dull, tiresome, monotonous life bymerely wishing himself out of the rut. He must climb.

If you are standing still, or going backward, there is somethingwrong. You are the man to find out what is wrong.

Don’t think that you are neglected, or not understood, or notappreciated.

Such thoughts are the thoughts of failure.

Think hard about the fact that men who have got what you envy gotit by working for it.

Don’t pity yourself, criticise yourself.

You know that the only thing in the world that you have got tocount upon is yourself.

Where is Your Happiness? Past, Present, or Future??

Achieving a level of personal happiness previously unknown is closer than you think. Much closer. But first, it’s important to stay in touch with the present.

“Stay in touch with the present? I’m thinking…I’m already IN the present!”

Well, certainly we all are in the present, since there is nowhere else to be, but that doesn’t mean our thoughts are in the present. And therein lay the challenges to our own personal happiness.

We as humans are the rarest of all species in that not only can we think, but we can think about our thinking.

And you can use this process of being aware of your self-thoughts to help you achieve contentment. It’s important for you to challenge what you see and believe. This insures that your view of the world matches reality. So often what we believe is the truth, is nothing more than glimpses of the past, present, and future.

We often take only the bad from the past, quickly breeze through the present, and falsely make up the future. The result is frequently guilt about your imperfect past, anxiety about a future that doesn’t exist, and impatience with the Now.

But it is the Now which can help us to live our lives today, fully alive, happy and content.

To prove the value of the present to yourself, try this:

Take a moment and sit in a comfortable place and observe.

  • What do you see? Describe the images around you.

  • What sounds are there? How many can you hear?

  • Can you smell different smells? (Some are pleasant, some maybe not!)

  • Tell yourself how the surfaces around you feel, the chair, the rug under your feet, the tightness or looseness of your clothing.

  • And finally, what tastes are apparent in your mouth?

Take a few minutes and reconnect with the world as you experience it in the now.

If you are like most people, what you experienced is a wonderful feeling of aliveness. Rarely do we allow ourselves the opportunity to enjoy the moment. But the moment is the only reality we know. It is exactly

the way it should be and it cannot be anything more than that.

But we repeatedly make it out to be different. And by doing so, we have lost the opportunity to fully experience the rain, the children playing, the learning to be achieved by listening to the world seen through a grandparent’s eyes, or a friend sharing one of his or her own moments. Too often we are too caught up in what will happen, or what has happened, to experience what IS happening.

This is not to say that planning for the future is unimportant, or that reminiscing is not useful and enjoyable in itself. But unfortunately, too often we become entangled in a future that has not happened and become stifled by our predictions.

We run from the saber tooth tiger that no longer exists in our modern day world. The tiger has been replaced with confronting a friend, giving a speech, driving over a bridge, or feeling discomfort from changing a habit. We create absolute horror from an uncertain future that we make real in the moment.

Staying in the moment awards you the opportunity to see the world as it is, not as you believe it should be. It allows you to observe the truth, to look at real data, not information couched in fears and anxiety.

And it is this truth, which will allow you to enjoy yourself, others, and the world around you. Because, it is exactly as it should be. You can manage any life event that presents itself. Why?? Because everyone does. You can choose to do it with pain or without pain. The evidence for these statements is present in the moment.

What Makes A Good Leader? Ask Uncle Sam

What do the major generals who are leading the war efforts in Iraq have in common with executives and entrepreneurs who are conducting business back home? When it comes to leadership, the answer is probably a lot more than you think.

In a recent study conducted by the Army War College, subordinates of the major generals who are leading the war efforts in Iraq were asked to rate the performance of their superiors.

The survey revealed that the best leaders:

  • Keep cool under pressure
  • Clearly explains the missions, sets standards and priorities
  • See the big picture; provides context and perspective
  • Make tough, sound decisions on time
  • Adapt quickly to new situations; can handle bad news
  • Give useful feedback; sets a high ethical tone
  • Are positive, encouraging and realistically optimistic

According to retired Gen. Walter Ulmer, coauthor of the study, “The study showed that even when tactical and technical competences are excellent, interpersonal skills are critical.”

What’s that? People skills are critical in fighting a war? General Patton must be spinning in his four-star grave.

According to Ulmer the survey revealed that it is easier to teach technical skills than to teach people how to gain trust and build teams. In other words, trained tacticians are important, but the worth of a true leader may best be measured by how he leads, motivates, and treats his troops.

The study further showed that many key behaviors these generals exhibit were learned by example. Their former superiors displayed people skills and whether intended or not, taught those skills to their subordinates. This means that good leaders produced good leaders. I’m sure the flipside is just as true. Bad leaders often produce the next generation of bad leaders. We see it in business everyday. The recent rash of corporate scandals didn’t just involve the bad guys at the top. They often involved subordinate executives who were following the leader’s example and carrying out his not-so honorable plans.

Not surprisingly, the same traits found in the generals leading the effort in Iraq are the same traits found in many successful executives and entrepreneurs.

Keeps cool under pressure

Contrary to what many believe, being an entrepreneur is not always a walk in the park. There is constant pressure coming from many fronts. Pressure to make a sale, to meet payroll, to keep the doors open, to keep the employees in line, and on and on. The best entrepreneurs learn to thrive under pressure.

Pressure becomes a motivator, not a detractor.

Clearly explains missions, sets the standards and priorities

Successful entrepreneurs understand that the organization runs smoother, better, faster if everyone is on the same page. A good leader makes sure his subordinates understand the mission at hand. He makes sure that everyone understands the expectations, goals and objectives. He shares his vision and lays out the plan of attack.

Sees the big picture; provides context and perspective

Many executives and entrepreneurs can not see beyond the edge of their desk. Great leaders not only see the big picture, they make sure their team sees it, as well. They share their vision and perspective for the long haul, not just the battle being waged today.

Makes tough, sound decisions on time

One trait of the successful entrepreneur is the ability to make decisions soundly and quickly. You must weigh your options and choose a direction with minimal consideration time. Procrastination has no place in battle or in business. Procrastinating entrepreneurs will quickly become someone else’s procrastinating employees.

Adapts quickly to new situations; can handle bad news

In business some days are diamonds and some days are coal. Successful entrepreneurs are prepared to deal with the day no matter what it brings. They do not stick their heads in the sand and wait for the bad news to go away.

Gives useful feedback; sets a high ethical tone

A good leader listens more than he speaks. He takes input from the team and makes decisions based on that input and his own expertise. He sets the example that he expects his team to follow.

Is positive, encouraging and realistically optimistic

A good leader never lets his team see him sweat. He does not broadcast his negativity because he knows negativity is contagious and will spread faster than the plague. A good leader encourages his team to perform no matter the odds. He is the positive force that keeps everyone motivated to win.

Every entrepreneur should take a lesson from these generals, as should every corporate executive. I’m sure it would cut down on the time many of them are now spending in the stockade.

Here’s to your success!

Life Is A Balancing Act

Did you ever lose your balance while riding a bike or while skating? Have you ever fallen on the ice? When we are out of balance good things usually “do not” happen.

Take a look at areas of your life where you may be out of balance. For example, if you are not careful, work can take over your life. Earn more! Learn more! Sell more! Move faster. It’s not surprising that there is an epidemic of stress in the workplace. A survey by the American Banking Association indicated that 85% of us do not find our jobs enjoyable and fulfilling. Are you balancing your work responsibilities with your family’s needs? If you are not, what is the answer?

In most cases the answer is following the 80-20 Rule. This is the rule that says that 80% of our success comes from 20% of our activity. This was true for Michael. He was having a problem balancing his family time, his time on the job, and time with his favorite activity which is golf. He simply ran out of time.

Michael asked us if we would coach him out of this no-win situation. Because of this conflict and the stress that it created, he was not performing well in any area. However, he was constantly busy. We suggested that he think seriously about the 80-20 Rule. We asked Michael to think about the consequences of the decisions he was making by asking himself these questions: Is what I’m doing really moving me to the results I want? What do I really, really want for my life? What actions will bring me closer to my goals? We know it sounds overly simple, but you will find that when you focus on crystal clear results, the actions needed for their accomplishment will appear.

For Michael the 80/20 Rule served as a daily reminder to focus his time

and energy on the 20 percent that produces results. He didn’t just “work smart,” he worked smart on the right things. As a result, not only did his job become more fulfilling, but a happy family life emerged and he was also able to take a half a day each week to play golf.

Take a look at the areas of your life that seem to be stressful and not fulfilling. How does the 80-20 rule apply to your physical well-being, your finances, your spiritual life, your family, your career? As soon as you discover what is out of balance, refocus on the results you want and take action. Action means change. Remember that the same old actions will bring the same old results.

As professional coaches, we believe in you. We believe you are capable, competent and strong. We believe you have within you everything you need to create your life exactly the way you want it to be.

Wealthy and Creative – How to apply Gratitude and Attract Riches

This cozy long weekend always reinforces the beauty of giving thanks. I have a lot to be thankful for.

Writing to all of you has been a great source of joy. I love hearing from you and connecting with you on a daily basis. It is a wonderful way for me to begin creating my day. Thank you.

One of my favorite writers, Wallace D. Wattles, has some fabulous reasons as to why gratitude is a key ingredient for success.

As creative beings we realize that All things are born out of a creative force. This unseen creativity is immense and powerful. It is energy made manifest. Money also is energy made manifest. The more energy you express creatively, the more comes into your world in the form of riches, or money.

Wattles writes, “If it is a new thought to you that gratitude brings your whole mind into closer harmony with the creative energies of the universe, consider it well, and you will see that it is true.

“The good things you already have, have come to you along the line of obedience to certain laws. Gratitude will lead your mind out along the ways by which things come; and it will keep you in close harmony with creative thought and prevent you from falling into competitive thought.”

Being competitive wipes out any sparks of creativity. Being grateful instantaneously attracts a movement of blessings towards you. “The law of gratitude is the natural principle that action and reaction are equal, and in opposite directions.

“But the value of gratitude does not consist solely in getting you more blessings in the future. Without gratitude you cannot long

keep from dissatisfied thought regarding things as they are.”

He is saying that if you feel dissatisfied, switch gears, then find something, anything that you are grateful for. This alone transforms the unproductive energy of dissatisfaction into the wealth-producing energy of appreciation.

“It is necessary, then, to cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you; and to give thanks continuously.”

And this next bit is really important. “And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

Wow. What does this mean?

Well, take this moment to reflect on all that has happened to you. If you really look closely, every event has formed you into the beautiful, creative being you are today. So don’t look back in judgment. Give thanks even to those who you may have previously felt don’t deserve it.

You see, a judgmental world is a sad, depressive world. A world of gratitude is a joyous, peaceful, infinitely creative world. Only you can choose which world fits your needs.

Just remember. What you want wants you too. And being thankful for even the smallest event triggers a joyful creative force that may otherwise lay dormant forever. This creative force manifests into wealth thus allowing you, the creator, the freedom and joy to be all you can be.

Gifts of the Inner Voice

Now that I no longer awaken to the sound of a jarring alarm clock, I’ve learned to welcome the early morning hours.

Because that is the time when I can hear my inner voice most clearly.

Sometimes it is just a knowing. A realization that cuts through the noise to reveal how I truly feel about something or someone.

It picks apart puzzling dilemmas and offers creative solutions.

It is at the time before I have fully awakened and left the world of dreams, that messages from some deep place percolate to the surface.

It is a peaceful time. It is easy to be sensitive to the rhythms of the body, the sounds of the quiet inner voice.

Shortly, the shrill ring of the telephone will shatter the stillness and redirect my energy to external concerns. My attention will then belong to the client on the other end of the line.

But for these few precious minutes, I savor the calm.

We function best when we make time to be both active and still. The demands of being making a living, raising a family, draw us toward motion and activity. But my observation is that we nourish ourselves and become more productive when we include the contributions of

our inner voice.

Upon awakening, while still dwelling in that netherworld between consciousness and unconsciousness, the neatly packaged solution to some petty problem floats up into my mind. Whole articles with their sentences quietly arranged in perfect rows hang in the air.

A perfect turn of a phrase, the solution to a knotty problem with a difficult client, the working out of the composition of an illustration … such jewls are the gifts of the inner mind.

They are fragile bubbles that pop when exposed to the direct morning sun. The trick is to capture the quiet voices before they are drowned by the noise of daily activity.

By extending the quiet time a little longer I can sit at my computer and transcribe those thoughts.

Some say artists and intuitives hear it loudest. But we all have an inner voice. And it speaks to us. All we must do is listen.
